Pray for Ukraine

Watching the video clip before Elton John's concert Saturday night brought home to me the fact that AIDS "has arrived" and is already beginning to affect the lives of many people. The statistics I've heard repeatedly is that within ten years, one out of every ten Ukrainians will become infected with the AIDS virus. The statistics Saturday night said that by the year 2014 over 42,000 children will be infected with AIDS. Add to these statistics other medical problems in Ukraine like tuberculosis and many common immune system problems, and the future is starts to look very bleak.

But our Lord asks us to trust in him and to look to him for help in everything. Prayer can change situations. Our God is a healing God. This week, please pray for the AIDS crisis in Ukraine.

Pray for Ukrainian leaders to become educated and to be encouraged to make good decisions regarding the care of those who will become infected.

Pray for Christians and the church to be burdened with this problem and to become involved in ministering to AIDS victims with love and compassion.

Pray for the men, women and children whose lives will be affected by AIDS and that they will come to know Christ's love for them.

Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits--who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion.....Psalm 103:2-4 (NIV)

I see you call him 'Sir Elton' in the other post. What do I need to do to get that kind of respect?:)
BTW, a baseball update for you: the No. 1 team in Los Angeles returned to their second home (Chavez Ravine, where they played for a few years in the 1960s) and took 2 of 3 games from the team in LA which hasn't won a postseason series in 19 years (note how nice I am here, not singling them out by name!).
Anyway, that makes the final total for the year: American League LA team 5 wins, National League LA team ONE win.
BTW, the American League LA team has the 2nd best record, only a half-game behind the Boston Red Sox, in all of baseball this year.
Last comment: I realize Anaheim is another county, but its still a suburb. All the network TV stations in Anaheim are LA stations, KCBS, KABC, etc. There are some suburbs in other states, cities around Chicago and New York City come to mind!
Anyway, if Billy Joel comes to Kyiv let me know and I'll fly out to see his concert. He's still my favorite. I feel old now because his daughter, who was born in 86, just released her first CD. It was not bad. Her website is www.alexarayjoel.com, has a few clips on it.

One other note for you: Fullerton was the 2nd team eliminated from the College World Series. Lost opener 3-2 to Oregon State and then lost in about 13 innings, 5-4 to Irvine. Irvine game was the longest game in CWS history, just short of 6 hours.
BTW, I am guessing when you said alma-mater and I mentioned those 2 schools that Fullerton was where you went.
I say this because Irvine is a smart school and given how you barely passed HS geometry I doubt you qualified ;p

Sir Cap,
I was accepted at Biola University just for the record and never applied to UCI.......And I ended up at Fullerton because at the time, their Communications School was rated #3 in the country....so there! :) Nah nah!

But the story as to how I got through math in University is actually a story in itself because I almost didn't make it because of that subject.......Maybe I will post the story someday to encourage all those who are math illiterate.....
